Re: Translate Program

My configuration was very different, but i don't think that should make any difference in this case. wxWidgets 3.1.5, built with VS2017, static linking I had to comment out these two lines, because VS couldn't compile the code in "crude_call.h" #include "crude_call.h" HDL.SystemCapture(command, ".",...

Re: Translate Program

I compiled your program and the translated texts showed up.

Strangely enough, using ProcMon i could see that even in your executable the catalog was loaded correctly.

I have no idea where else it could fail, but i'm sure you're very close to the solution.

Re: Getting "unresolved external symbol _main" error in VS2019

At this point I'm trying to just get the Hello World program in the docs up and running,
IMHO the first step should be to build the "minimal" sample from the /samples directory using the provided VS project files.

Re: Translate Program

What did you try and what didn't work?

The two sources of information you need, are:
https://docs.wxwidgets.org/trunk/overview_i18n.html

And the "internat" sample that comes with wxWidgets.

Re: draw bitmap darker as if it had 50% transparency

If you're using wxGraphicsContext for drawing, wxGraphicsContext::BeginLayer() should work. https://docs.wxwidgets.org/trunk/classwx_graphics_context.html#a14cca9fef8391d46f54259caa097ca1f Under Windows, only the D2D renderer supports it, not the default GDI+ renderer. Or you could use something lik...

Re: How to systematically convert an event table into 'Connect' ?

The reason I don't like event tables is that I found that if I declare the event table in the header file (I suppose this is necessary?) No, they always go into the .cpp file. If you still want to avoid event tables, use the more modern Bind(), Connect() only exists for backward compatibility. Bind...

FWIW, it's the same for me. Over the last 1-2 weeks there seemed to be only small windows of time where I could log in. Unfortunately it looks like if you complain, moderators will not be able to do anything... We can't. We can only "moderate" users and posts, but have no access to the forum softwar...

Re: Help passing custom data to event

The Bind call should be in MainWindow, or you need to call parent->Bind() (ugly).

Re: Help passing custom data to event

How is EVT_UPDATE_NAME defined?

I suspect there is a mixup of eventtypes and/or ids. E.g. when you create the wxCommandEvent, you don't set the id, which should be window::id::PROPERTY_DIALOG to match your Bind() call.

In principle the code should work.

Re: How to build 'multi interface' application

What kind of game are we talking about? Is it completely custom-drawn, or will it have any standard GUI elements? Another alternative to having multiple windows could be to have each "interface" on a different wxPanels and put them in a wxSimpleBook. Then you can switch between the panels with a sin...

Re: How to build 'multi interface' application

However when I close it the application is terminated That should only happen when the last frame is destroyed. Usually you'd have one main frame, the interface for the settings could be a modal dialog or another frame. You can prevent a frame from being destroyed when it's closed by catching the w...

Sorry, i don't understand the problem. Inside OnTreeItemRightClick() you have all the information you need. Where on the "execution path" does it get lost?

As you probably know, this is a user forum, the wx core devs usually don't read this. I suggest to post again on the wx-users Google group: https://groups.google.com/g/wx-users
